Getting Friends and Family out of Banking and into Cryptocurrency

Change of any sort is difficult for humans to embrace. Even change that offers us a positive improvement comes with a natural level of resistance. My personal journey into cryptocurrencies was driven by pure necessity and near desperation. Awareness of my economic vulnerabilities and having never been served by any financial system, I overcame the internal and external obstacles of migrating away from traditional banking and into the cryptocurrency economic systems by having my back against the wall financially, even before the COVID driven lockdowns.

To my friends and family I became the crypto-zealot that would take every opportunity to preach blockchain gospel to anyone that would listen. Then as many started to catch wind of record breaking highs in Bitcoin, they started to take me more seriously.

As the 2020 holiday season approached I had the idea of creating Meta-Mask wallets for my closest friends and family as gifts. My idea is that holding the hands of those around me to a path of attainable financial tools and services will put my close network on the same page. I can’t go on this journey without them.

Metamask is a cryptocurrency wallet which can be used on the Chrome, Firefox and Brave browsers. It’s also a browser extension. This means that it works like a bridge between normal browsers and the Ethereum blockchain.

To date, I’ve helped migrate 15 people to participate in cryptocurrency over 6 months, and in doing so spent 1 ETH. My hope is to reduce the time, effort and cost of building a swarm of cryptocurrency allies that pulls each other out of pitfalls of cylindrical poverty.

The fun part of it all is; the $20 USD equivalent of ETH I placed in each wallet quickly grew to $58 dollars within the first week of passing my crypto-gifts.

Along with the ETH I sent to each wallet I created, I also started Hex stakes for my teenagers. HEX is the first blockchain certificate of deposit. I use it to as my crypto savings account.
