Documenting Learning — Data Sovereignty

Watched:

“… we could run our apps peer to peer & not have a company in the middle spying on us, deciding what we see…”

“… technically we could have currencies that we all participate in and issue, rather than that being something central to bankers and governments.” — Arthur Brock from the video linked above

“If data is the new oil than your data is being extracted without you reaping any of the profits.”

Video discusses projects that seek to give users control of their data with the ability to monetize on it.

*** all projects listed work off of blockchain… inspired some new avenues to research so I asked Greg Kerr some questions….

  1. How is data used, stored and shared on a Holochain framework?
  • Others in the network can see the data in the public key and all your data on your private key stays private.

2. Who decides what goes where?

  • The app DNA decides

3. So is data sovereignty something naturally built in to the holochain architecture or is it something we need to make sure we build in?

  • These are all awesome questions … more to come

100 hApps Rally

“Let’s think about small simple apps with easy functions, that just start getting people accustomed to the idea of using these types of apps.” — Greg Kerr

Greg has offered his help to anyone wanting to participate and create an app on holochain.
